Simon is a Director of Change Harbour. He utilises his extensive experience in leading edge law firm management, enabling firms to implement innovative solutions to deliver operational effectiveness and support revenue growth. Simon’s main areas of focus include organisational design, process improvement and the alignment of firm-wide systems and structures with business strategy. This involves business and legal management systems across all functions. Simon has particular experience in integrating systems and structures following law firm mergers, to optimise efficiencies and align them with the strategy of the combined firm.
Prior to becoming a consultant in 2011, Simon joined Linklaters LLP in 1994, becoming Director of ISS in 2001. Simon developed Linklaters’ information systems technology, organisation and governance strategy, leading to the true globalisation of IT services across the firm.
Between 2001 and 2003 Simon led a global/firm-wide implementation of SAP (‘Programme Armstrong’) encompassing finance, practice management, client relationship management and human resources. This was the first full implementation of SAP within the legal industry.
In April 2007, he was appointed Global Chief Operating Officer, responsible for leading all of Linklaters’ Business Services worldwide. As a member of the firm’s executive committee, Simon was responsible for setting Business Services’ strategy and coordinating all of its activities (HR, Finance, IT, Knowledge Management, Risk, Marketing, Strategy, Operations), therefore playing a major role in ensuring that Linklaters’ firm-wide strategy was successfully implemented. As Global COO, Simon initiated an ongoing program of change aimed at achieving globalisation of services, increased innovation, greater cost effectiveness and improved quality.
